Q. Hi I'm a first year University student, and one of the units I'm taking is "Human Anatomy + Physiology" -- i absolutely love it -- and was wondering what course I should transfer into (and careers it would lead onto...) that is Heavily based Anatomy (and/or physiology)? Thankyou!!

A. Does your university offer A&P 2? also take bio and chemistry. a few careers that would be involved in that would be anything in the medical field, doctor. A physical therapist, medical researcher, nurse, just about any of those things. I also took anatomy, but it was not my strong point, it was more torture for me! hope you continue on!

What is the best anatomy book for a beginner wanting to get a jump on studying?
Q. I am a college student majoring in nursing and next semester I will be taking Anatomy and Physiology and Anatomy and Physiology Lab. I would like to get a jump on studying so that I am prepared. What book(s) would you recommend? Thanks!

A. I recommend an Anatomy & Physiology coloring book. I bought one at my bookstore after completing the course, and it would have been very useful. Another recommendation would be to buy your required textbooks early to look over before the class even begins. Finally, use interactive websites to help get ready for all that you will need to know. In my class we dissected cats, and it was very helpful to look at the pictures online to reinforce what we learned in class. Good luck!

What is easier biology or anatomy and physiology?
Q. I am debating on whether to take anatomy and physiology or biology. I don't really like bio, i think it is kind of boring, but i heard anatomy and physiology is hard.
Asked by Christine - Fri Apr 30 10:29:34 2010 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Having taught both subjects, I don't think one is harder than the other It depends on the level at which each is taught (college-level Biology is a lot harder than middle-school A&P). What IS important is what you're interested in, since they are not the same thing. You're fortunate that you have the opportunity to take A&P without having taken Biology; until recently, I've always seen Biology as a prerequisite. If you want to go into nursing, skip the Biology. I teach basic A&P to nurses, and some have never had Biology (they are the ones who perform the worst).

What is the course of training to teach anatomy and physiology?
Q. I was in nursing training about thirty years ago. I dropped out to get married. I loved anatomy and physiology and wonder what I have to do to teach it? Whether do this than nursing.

A. Most people aren't hired to teach one course - you'd apply to faculty positions in nursing or biology and teach other courses as well. You'd need a PhD in biology to teach at the 4-year college or university level (masters for 2-year college); nursing often depends on what they're looking for. Here's a site that lists current job openings at college and what they're looking for in candidates.

I think it was more gradual. There was however a point where modern day science (and the scientific method) were established in order to place emphasis on evidence and employ unbiased testing. At that point, truth became more desireable than beliefs (like religious or supernatural explanations). Medical discovery accelerated when we started to build on our understanding of the function human body. Q. I am interested in holistic nutrition and human anatomy and physiology but I do not want to work directly with people. I also do not want to work in an office sitting in front of a computer all day. Is there a career these areas could apply to? What high school teaches the most about electronics and anatomy?
Q. I have huge plans for this world that involves circuitry, major chemistry, anatomy and physics, and some optics. What high school is best for teaching such material?
Asked by Garrett G - Fri May 1 22:51:39 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Garrett, Your best bet is to check within your school district to see which high school is the science and math magnet school. Magnet schools are public schools within your district, but may not be the school closest to your home. The point of them is that they usually have something special to offer over a regular school which makes attending them an appealing choice to many students who have special interest areas. Most magnet schools require that you take a test to show that you can handle the academic rigor and are worthy of becoming a student there (which allows you to go to a school that is not closest to your home).

A. If you're really pressed for time and the exam is a written one, picking up a good general review book would be the best idea: If you want to try and do this on your own, come up with a list of organ systems and simply try to systematically go through each. Names, locations, and functions of each part of the skeletal system for example. Then move on to muscular, respirocirculatory, nervous, endocrine, reproductive, digestive, etc.

A. I took it online and the course was worth 3 credit hours. It's similar to the amount of work it takes to get through Biology or Chemistry if you've ever taken one of those. I probably studied 4-6 hours a week for 10-12 weeks. I hope this helps. Good luck with the course. I really enjoyed A&P.

Is it important to take anatomy and phisyiology in high school if i want to go to med school?
Q. I am a junior, and I have the possibility of taking ap physics and ap bio next year, i think that if I take anatomy it will be too much work; i want to go to med school, and Im not sure if I should focus in physics and bio senior year, and take anatomy in college or viceversa.
Asked by Alex - Sat Oct 31 18:54:33 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It is not important to take Anatomy and Physiology in high school if you plan to go to med school. You need a strong science background, but A&P at the college level is not even a requirement of most (if not all) med school programs. A&P at the college level is generally more for the nursing track, though it won't hurt. Med schools want to see (at minimum) two years of bio, a year of chem, a year of physics and a year of organic chem. They will teach you all the anatomy you need. Now, you do need to take more science than the minimum, and a semester or two of A&P will be helpful, but it sounds like you are taking plenty of science now while in high school, don't worry about A&P right now.
